Alabama Priest Charged Cruise Ship Sexual Abuse (see video below) – Sexual abuse charges have been filed against Father Amal Samy, 37, of Mount Vernon, Alabama, who was due in court on November 13, 2019. Samy is a priest for St. Peter The Apostle Church in Chastang near Mt. Vernon, Alabama. Samy denies any wrongdoing.
According to the Catholic Weekly, Father Samy was named Parochial Administrator at St. Peter’s in June 2018.
The incident reportedly occurred on the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship while it was at sea on August 21, 2019. The victim says that Samy attempted to touch her multiple times. He also allegedly exposed himself to her during the massage and asked her to perform a sexual act on him.
Samy denied removing his sheet during the massage but did admit that he was naked underneath it.
In a statement obtained by WKRG, a spokesperson for the archdiocese said, “The Archdiocese of Mobile learned last week of the allegation against Father Amal Samy, H.G.N. Father Samy denies the allegation. The Archdiocese takes all such allegations seriously. It is our policy not to comment on pending legal matters.”
Father Samy posted on his Facebook page saying, “sincere thanks to archbishop for appointing me as pastor of St. Peter The Apostles Parish and Our Lady of Sorrows Mission Parish, thank you all for your presence and wishes.”
