Seattle Maritime Festival

Also on Saturday was the Seattle Maritime Festival from 11:00-16:00. The Seattle Propeller Club presented its top honor, the Puget Sound Maritime Achievement Award to Capt. Michael Moore, Pacific Merchant Shipping Association, and its Public Official of the Year Award to the City of Seattle’s Roque De Herrera at the annual Harley Marine Seattle Maritime Festival Breakfast.

The Family Fun Day featured a wide variety of Maritime activities, displays and food trucks. The Experience Maritime activities offer tons of cool hands-on programs including kids boat building, welding, oceanography, emergency signals/flares, emergency environmental response, life raft and boat tours, line tossing, and other family activities. A crowd-pleasing highlight was the chance for the public to pilot a tugboat at the Academy’s bridge simulator. Live music was performed by The Not Its; School of Rock and Alleyoop Musical Games and Puppets!

Discover the working waterfront on the Ship Canal, check out Fishermen’s Terminal and learn about the important Ballard Locks on three Free Argosy Ship Canal Tours. Tickets were only available at the Festival. Tours were held at 11:30am; 1pm and 2:30pm.
