Ha Long Bay UNESCO Heritage Site
Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO heritage site, has been one of Vietnam’s biggest tourism magnets for some time now. U.S. travel guide site Smarter Travel has described it as one of the best ecological spots in the world, while Business Insider has advised that an overnight Ha Long cruise trip is a “must-try” travel experience in Asia.
Hạ Long Bay, in northeast Vietnam, is known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. Junk boat tours and sea kayak expeditions take visitors past islands named for their shapes, including Stone Dog and Teapot islets. The region is popular for scuba diving, rock climbing and hiking, particularly in mountainous Cát Bà National Park.
Quang Ninh received 12.2 million visitors in 2018, up 24 percent from a year earlier, including 5.2 million foreigners, according to official data. Most visitors to the northern province take day-long or overnight cruises of the Ha Long Bay, which include visits to caves, beaches and floating villages.
