Winter Storm Quiana Northeast High Winds Snow Freezing Rain – On Sunday, February 24, 2019, Winter Storm Quiana is (see video below) bringing high winds, blizzard warnings and freezing rain to the midwest and northeast.
The National Weather Service has issued warnings from the eastern Dakotas, to western and southern Minnesota, northern and central Iowa, northern Wisconsin, northern Michigan and east of Lake Ontario in upstate New York.
The National Weather Service has issued high wind warnings and watches from portions of New York, Philadelphia and New York City are among the locations where high wind warnings are in effect.
Strong winds will spread from the Midwest to the Northeast through Monday. The winds will knock down trees and cause power outages.
Quiana’s intense low will pull north into eastern Canada, but snow, with some lake enhancement, will linger in the parts of northern New England Sunday into Monday, affecting cruise ports in New York and New Jersey.
Strong winds are also blasting through the northern Plains into the Mississippi Valley and parts of the Great Lakes. Winds have gusted 40 to 60 mph in a large swath of the Midwest as of early Sunday. High winds are expexted from Maine to North Carolina
