MSC Preziosa Passengers Robbed During St John’s Antigua Violent Attack – Two French MSC Cruises’ MSC Preziosa cruise ship passengers Jacques Colbert, 72, and Christiane Marcelle Drouth, 62, were attacked on Friday,  February 1, 2019, around 1100 hours.

The  couple were attacked in a violent robbery while sightseeing in St. John’s, Antigua. One of the passengers was stabbed in the incident, which took place near Hatton Bargain Center on Perry Bay in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. The couple were sightseeing near a tower in Hatton when they were attacked and robbed by two men.

The accused Joel Richards, 20, and Anderson Garcia, 19, both of Hatton, and they’re jointly accused of aggravated robbery on French visitors Jacques Colbert and Christiane Marcelle Drouth. The local men allegedly targeted the two cruise ship passengers who travelled to the popular Caribbean island aboard MSC Preziosa.

The attackers allegedly wrestled a black leather handbag from Drouth and stabbed Colbert in the abdomen and the thieves made off with Drouth’s black leather handbag. The bag which they took contained an umbrella, the woman’s cruise ship receipt, a note book, and an address book.

The Mount St. John’s Medical Centre staff decided to keep Colbert overnight for observation. though his injury was not life-threatening.

Last month, Michael Maycock, from the United Kingdom arrived in St John’s aboard  P&O Cruises cruise ship Brittania on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was also robbed in the port at St John’s Antigua.
