Fred Olsen Cruise Lines Employee Katie Kemp Murdered – On Monday, August 6, 2018, at approximately 0850 hours,  Katherine (Katie) Kemp, 31, from Ipswich, Suffolk was murdered by her husband Thomas Kemp, age 32.  Mrs. Kemp  died from multiple stab wounds in her second floor apartment. A neighbor reportedly saw heavily blood-stained net curtains hanging out of the open window after the attack.

The ambulance service received a 999 call at 8:53 a.m., after Mr Kemp was seen by another resident, lying covered in blood on the ground.

Detective Inspector Evans said,  there was, “no third party involvement” in the deaths. She confirmed that two knives were recovered from the apartment kitchen, which had blood stains on them.Katie Kemp Apartment Blood Stains

It was also revealed that police had been called to previous incidents at the Kemp apartment.

Katie worked as a Information Systems Administrator for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines at their home office for five years.

Fred Olsen managing director Mike Rodwel said, “We are saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague, Katie Kemp. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Katie’s family and friends at this very difficult time. The couple lived for a year with their cat, at Siloam Place, Ipswich, United Kingdom, by the Orwell River, near Fred Olsen home office . There is no word on who is caring for Katie Kemp’s cat.

Mr. Kemp was found dying on the street outside their apartment, after falling 25 feet from their apartment, while his wife Katie lay dead inside. He had multiple self-inflicted knife wounds to his neck, chest, torso and limbs.

A post-mortem revealed Mrs Kemp had significant stab wounds to her chest resulting in damage to her heart and lungs and she had defense knife wounds to her hands, which appeared she had received as she attempted to defend herself from her attacking husband.

Thomas Kemp had worked since 2011 as an administrator for nursing courses at the University of Suffolk’s School of Health Sciences. He was also studying for a post graduate degree in Business and Management at the university’s main campus in Ipswich.

An inquest into the apparent murder-suicide, was held in the presence of Mr Nigel Parsley Senior Coroner for Suffolk at The Coroner’s Court, Beacon House, White House Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, beginning on September 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines home office is located at 42 White House Rd, Ipswich, England. The cruise line has for cruise ships Balmoral, Braemar, Black Watch and Boudicca.

Fred Olsen cruise ships sail primarily in Europe, but also sail in the Amazon, Arctic, Asia, Australia, South Africa and South America.
