John Michael Pyle, 59, single and divorced, completed the Patriot Run Across America. He ran to raise money for various charities dedicated to helping US veterans. He crossed the finish line at the Key West 100 on May, 19, 2012.
To raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warriors project, Pyle ran 83 straight days and averaged 39.69 miles per day as part of his “Patriot Run across America.” Pyle ran in total 3,273 miles. Roughly 1,000 miles were run through the desert wearing ski goggles and a bandanna soaked in water on his face. On his last day he completed a 100-mile race in the Keys. He finished the race in 27 hours and 5 minutes, stopping only for a 45-minute nap. But, Pyle is still running.
John Pyle who was a Sarasota County, Florida resident calls himself an “American Patriot”, but the FBI call him a sex offender who peddled child pornography. Pyle was charged with 30 counts of possessing child pornography in 2016 and was facing up to 450 years in prison. He posted a $90,000 bond and became a fugitive when he failed to show up for a court hearing on Oct. 23, 2017.
Though Pyle surrendered his passport as part of his bond, he was still able to board Carnival Cruise Lines ship Carnival Paradise from Tampa, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico, according a court document.
Carnival Paradise arrived in Cozumel October 11 at 0700 hours. Pyle then got off the boat and did not return before Carnival Paradise departed at 1600 hours that day.
