Carnival Cruise Line ship Carnival Dream left New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday April 29, 2017 for a seven-night Caribbean cruise. The cruise ship was to call at Honduras, Belize and Cozumel, Mexico before returning on Sunday May 6. However, on Thursday evening, with Carnival Dream scheduled to sail from Belize to Cozumel at 1800 hours, the cruise ship began to flood. (see video below)
Carnival released a statement which said, “On Thursday, May 3 at approximately 6 p.m., there was a waterline break on Carnival Dream that impacted guests in approximately 50 staterooms on deck 9. Our onboard teams began cleanup immediately related to this clean water from a fire suppression system.We are working hard to assist the impacted guests and provide extra courtesies. We appreciate our guests’ understanding and sincerely apologize for this disruption.”
Later, Carnival released an update to issue, “Impacted guests will receive a full 100 percent refund of their cruise fare and a 50 percent future cruise credit.”
The cruise ship is how back in New Orleans and embarking this evening for the same itinerary.
