P&O Cruises cruise ship Arcadia passenger Kevin James Enright, 55, from Dunstable, Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom (UK) was arrested October 31, 2017. Enright tried to round-trip, trick or treat his way on a 4,158 mile Halloween cruise over 21 days, from Southampton in England to St. Lucia in the Caribbean.
But, his 3 kilo Trick or Treat bag filled with $282,598.00 of cocaine ‘candy’ was seized after its’ costume failed to trick Border Force officers in the UK, who arrested the over-aged, double bagged trickster.
At trial in Southampton Crown Court located at The Courts of Justice, London Rd, Southampton SO15 2XQ, Enright was sentenced to nine years and six months in Her Majesty’s Prison for importing a class A drug.
National Crime Agency investigators said Enright claimed that he had innocently purchased the suitcases. The suitcase’s Halloween costume, was another suitcase, which was no match for detectives. Police found traces of drugs within a false lining of two suitcases, one of which had been inside the other.
Enright had tried this trick before. He had a previous conviction for drug dealing for which he was sentenced to four years in prison in 2005. He had remained in contact with others involved in drug trafficking on both sides of the Atlantic.
This time it will be no treat in prison, he’ll be wearing a prison costume for 9.5 years.
