The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Cruises Reserve Beginning May 2018

Beginning in 2019, The Ritz-Carlton will be taking its legendary service and luxurious travel experiences to sea. Three custom-built yachts will offer intimate journeys for up to 298 guests in 149 suites, with bespoke itineraries spanning 7 to 10 days in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Open for reservations May 2018 for 2019 sailings, the small ships will call at unique locations typically not accessible to large cruise ships, from Capri and Portofino to St. Barths and the old town of Cartagena. Itineraries are being developed with an intent to combine the lifestyle of The Ritz-Carlton’s luxury resorts and the casual freedom of a yachting vacation.

Created by The Ritz-Carlton and maritime experts Douglas Prothero and Lars Clasen, named The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, this venture represents a unique foray into the cruise industry for a luxury hotel operator. The first of three lavish cruising yachts in this series is scheduled to take to sea in the fourth quarter of 2019, and distinguishes Marriott International as the only provider of luxury accommodations both on land and at sea.

On January 11, 2018 the keel laying ceremony took place at HJ Barreras Shipyard facilities in Pontevedra, Spain. Douglas Prothero, Managing Director of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and Timothy Grisius, Global Real Estate Officer for Marriott International, were joined by HJ Barreras Shipyard’s Chairman José García Costas, and Tillberg Design of Sweden’s Owner and Executive Project Director Fredrik Johansson as some commemorative coins were unveiled and welded to the hull.
