Daniel Belling, 45, from Dublin, Ireland, his wife Li Yinglei, 36, and their two children were on an 10-day Mediterranean cruise on February 9, 2017 aboard MSC Cruises Magnifica. Only three of them tried to board a flight home.
Daniel Belling was stopped for questioning at Rome’s Ciampino Airport in connection with the apparent disappearance of his wife, Li Yinglei, who had not officially disembarked the cruise ship. Belling was taken into police custody where he has been in an Italian jail since his arrest.
Cruise Bruise Investigates has been following this case since Li Yinglei disappeared on February 9. Earlier this year, we reported that the Irish Independent reported, Daniel Belling, lawyer Luigi Conti had asked the court if his client could leave prison and stay at an apartment in Rome, as the investigation may take a very long time. The court denied the request, keeping Belling in the prison while investigators continue to piece together evidence.
Now, Belling wants to quickly go to trial, because he says he can prove his innocence. A quick trial may not take place. Back in the USA, Lawyer Lonnie Kocontes has been in a California jail for almost five years awaiting trial in the cruise ship murder case of his tiny Asian wife Micki Kanesaki, who was also on a Mediterranean cruise when she went missing. Her body came ashore weeks later; she had been strangled and tossed overboard.
Belling has reportedly said, ” I didn’t kill my wife. I had nothing to do with her disappearance. I have no idea where she is. I have been in prison for almost a year now. I just want this to come to trial so I can clear my name and prove my innocence. I haven’t seen my children in months and I just want to see them and take them home. If I had murdered my wife I wouldn’t have carried on with the holiday. She was her own woman and free to do what she wanted. She left me of her own free will and something must have happened to her. But I didn’t kill her. I didn’t report her missing because she has done this sort of thing before, just disappeared. But this time she hasn’t come back.”
Meanwhile, the Belling Irish-Chinese-German children have been residing in an Italian foster home.
It is interesting that German native Daniel Belling from Eberswalde-Finow, Brandenburg, Germany posted on Facebook back on October 1, 2011, an aljazeera.com racist propaganda article “Why Israel can’t be a ‘Jewish State”written by Sari Nusseibeh. Nusseibeh was appointed as the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Representative in Jerusalem in 2001 .
As well, Belling is also a member of the German Group Identitäre Bewegung (IB) – Deutschland, which states on their page, “The Identitarian Movement (IB) exists since 2012 and originated in France. As a Europe-wide youth movement with several hundred activists, it is part of an extra-parliamentary acting youth, which is also active in Germany. Identitäre Bewegung is concerned with the preservation of Europe’s ethno-cultural identities. In clear contrast to an unreflected nationalism, the IB relies on the concept of ethnopluralism. As an APO it acts against a policy of permanent crises and the mental constriction of our democratic society. Identitäre Bewegung wants to lead the political discourse away from an alternative policy of globalization, massification and consumer-oriented individualization, back to lived democracy and homeland.”
The identitarian movement is a European and North American white nationalist movement originating in France.
Li Yinglei was an online business owner who did Cruise wedding planning and travel agent services. Li Yinglei (Xing Lei Li) also known as Angie Li, was a cruise and wedding planner living in Ireland with her husband and children, who started Cinderella’s Wedding in 2015.
Cinderella’s Wedding offered a range of packages, including wedding dress rentals, decor and photo album design. The couple also had a range of podcasts on their website, which featured Angie narrating different travel destinations and cruises.
Cinderella’s Wedding was located at 23 Main Street Dublin, Ireland.
The business phone +353 87 467 6109 has gone dead , as has the website cinderellas-wedding.com.
The Cinderella’s Wedding Facebook page has not been updated since January 24, 2016.
It is also interesting that Li Yinglei has not been in contact with her mother. The Irish Independent reported Yinglei Li’s mother said she heard her daughter was missing from a friend who read an English article on the internet. That is how she learned her daughter was missing, her son-in-law had been arrested and her two grandchildren were in care in Italy. She said she last spoke to her daughter on February 7, before they embarked on the cruise.
Daniel Belling never told her that her daughter was missing, nor had investigators. She has not heard from her daughter since before the cruise.
