We are watching our newly renovate Cruise Ship Weather website, as Category 4 Cyclone Donna pounds the south Pacific with Vanuatu and New Caledonia under the gun.
Radio New Zealand has just posted the following graphic Cyclone Donna storm track.
This region was pummeled, as Cruise Bruise reported in 2015, when Category 5 Cyclone Pam devastated the islands. Carnival Legend and Carnival Spirit along with P&O Dawn Princess and P&O Pacific Pearl came to the aid, bringing much need supplies to these remote islands.
Cruise Bruise reported, “As days went by, without contact with many of archipelago’s 82 islands which comprise Vanuatu, a massive relief effort was actually underway. Staging of relief supplies in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia had begun with the first wave of relief supplies, 30 tons of emergency being assembled for humanitarian aid.
The relief effort includes the basics of water and can food and direly needed infrastructure repair items such as temporary shelter with tarps and tents, as well as gas generators to provide power with the addition of huge mulching machines to hasten clearing of mountains of debris left in the wake of Cyclone Pam.
Two cruise lines which have been bringing passengers from primarily from New Zealand and Australia for decades are leading the relief effort with massive cruise ships filled with passengers, delivering the needed supplies to help residents of Vanuatu.”
