NCL Passenger Files Lawsuit After Water Slide Incident

On April 6, 2016 a Norwegian Cruise Line, Norwegian Escape passenger filed a lawsuit in  the Federal  Southern District Court of  Florida, after alleging she suffered injuries inside the water slide aboard their cruise ship.

Gisella Llanes, who is a resident of Miami-Dade County Florida,  said that  she was aboard Norwegian Escape and was using the enclosed water slide when she got stuck on the slide and couldn’t get out. The lawsuit alleges a “mechanical/engineering failure” caused the incident.

Llanes alleges the Norwegian Escape had two water slide attendants on duty, one at the top of the slide and one at the bottom of the slide. Their duty was to assist passengers onto and off the slide and coordinate with each other before each passenger used the slide.

While using the slide she got stuck and yelled for help. But, the two crew members in attendance at the water slide sent another passenger down the water slide, even though she had not exited.

She allegedly suffered “left ankle bruise, swelling and limping along with neck/head injury. She is suing the cruise line for $75,000.

The lawyer who filed the lawsuit, is not a Florida Admiralty and Maritime Law Certified Lawyer. He is licensed to practice in Florida, but he does not claim to be a “maritime lawyer”. That is very important. Only lawyers who are bar certified in the specialty area can claim, even loosely, the are Maritime Lawyers.

On his website he says, “I began my career as a student intern with the Rhode Island Public Defender’s Office and was able to handle a case load as a student. From 1997 – 2002 when I graduated Law School I was a Public Defender here in Miami-Dade County defending people and handling serious criminal cases including felonies such as drug trafficking, murder, and people accused of sexual crimes.”

A few years back, I reported a lawyer to the Florida Bar, for a number of Bar regulation violations, including claiming he was a Maritime Lawyer, which  was deceptive.  He was not a Maritime Law Certified Lawyer. The Bar made him clean up the deceptive advertising on his website.

Before hiring a maritime attorney, check out the list of lawyers who have faced Disciplinary Action including suspension and being disbarred.  Some lawyers practiced law any way.  There were 226 lawyers who were disicplined by the Florida Bar, from April 4 to June 30, 2016 alone.  A thousand or more have faced the bar in any given year.

Hawaii Travel Warning Rat Lungworm Disease Cases Rise

As seen on Cruise Bruise News today. Six cases of brain invading parasites, commonly known as rat lungworm disease, have so far been confirmed in Maui in the last three months, with more episodes currently being investigated.

Rat lungworm disease is caused by the parasitic roundworm Angiostrongylus cantonensis, with the adult form of the parasite found only in rats.

The infection is spread when rats carrying the parasite excrete the larvae of the roundworm in their faeces. From there, it can be picked up by other animals, such as snails, slugs, freshwater shrimp, crabs, and frogs.

CDC – What is Angiostrongylus cantonensis?

Angiostrongylus cantonensis is a parasitic worm of rats. It is also called the rat lungworm. The adult form of the parasite is found only in rodents. Infected rats pass larvae of the parasite in their feces. Snails and slugs get infected by ingesting the larvae. These larvae mature in snails and slugs but do not become adult worms. The life cycle is completed when rats eat infected snails or slugs and the larvae further mature to become adult worms.

People can get infected by eating raw or under-cooked snails or slugs that are infected with this parasite. In some cultures, snails are commonly eaten. Some children, in particular, have gotten infected by swallowing snails/slugs “on a dare. ” People also can get infected by accident, by eating raw produce (such as lettuce) that contains a small snail or slug or part of one.

Certain animals such freshwater shrimp, crabs, or frogs, have been found to be infected with larvae of the parasite. It is possible that eating undercooked or raw animals that are infected could result in people becoming infected, though the evidence for this is not as clear as for eating infected snails and slugs. Of note, fish do not spread this parasite.

Prevention of A. cantonensis infections involves educating persons residing in or traveling to areas where the parasite is found about not ingesting raw or under-cooked snails and slugs, freshwater shrimp, land crabs, frogs, and monitor lizards, or potentially contaminated vegetables, or vegetable juice. Removing snails, slugs, and rats found near houses and gardens should also help reduce risk. Thoroughly washing hands and utensils after preparing raw snails or slugs is also recommended. Vegetables should be thoroughly washed if eaten raw.

Treatment

Angiostrongylus cantonensis

There is no specific treatment for A. cantonensis infection. There is some evidence that certain supportive treatments may reduce the severity of headache and the duration of symptoms. Persons with symptoms should consult their health care provider for more information.

Angiostrongylus costaricensis

There is no specific treatment for A. costaricensis infections. Most infections resolve spontaneously though sometime surgical treatment is necessary to removed portions of inflamed intestine. Persons with symptoms should consult their health care provider for more information.

Nine Cases

The Hawaii State Department of Health has confirmed six cases of rat lungworm disease on the island of Maui and three cases on the Big Island over the past three months, an official said Monday. No deaths have been reported.

Heather Stockdale Walden, an assistant professor in the department of infectious diseases and pathology at the University of Florida, said rat lungworm disease has “been endemic in Hawaii for at least 50 years, so it’s been there for a while.”

Thames River Terrorist Police Terrorism Drill

The Met, the Port of London Authority, London Coastguard, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, London ambulance service and London fire brigade took part in the terrorism drill exercise to test their readiness for an actual terror event against a cruise ship.

Senior counter-terrorism officer, assistant commissioner Mark Rowley, said the security services have thwarted 13 potential terrorist attacks in the United Kingdom in less than four years.

Last year I posted an article, Terror Attack on Cruise Ship Terrorism Labeled Black Swan Event, which discusses what the cruise industry to doing to protect passengers and crew from terrorism and pirate attacks.

Preparing for terror event on a cruise ship or in cruise port is not a scare tactic, it is based on historical events. On March 18, 2015, two cruise ships, MSC Splendida and Costa Fascinosa were in port at Tunis, Tunisia on a cruise ship excursion to the Bardo National Museum, when a group of terrorists opened fire on the group who were exiting their tour buses, killing or wounding more than 50 cruise ship passengers.

In June 2015 a gunman killed 30 Britons on a beach in Tunisia.”. By the time Seifeddine Rezgui, 23,  was killed by Tunisian security forces he had murdered 38 people, and left another 39 wounded. Of those killed, 30 were British.

Preparing for a cruise ship terror attack is not just a scare tactic, it is a clear and present danger.

On October 8, 1985 – American Leon Klinghoffer, 69,  who was cruise ship passenger from New Jersey, was murdered during a terrorist attack aboard the cruise ship Achille Lauro.

On July 12, 1988, three gunmen had boarded City Of Poros along with other passengers at Aegina, Greece. They waiting on the ship until it was several miles from shore and then attacked around 8:30pm that evening, 11 people were killed.

Earlier this year, on January 6, 2017,  Esteban Santiago aka Aashiq Hammad, from Anchorage, Alaska, 26, exited his flight into terminal 2, entered a restroom and pulled out a handgun from his check luggage.

He exited the restroom and began shooting airline passengers in the Terminal 2 baggage claim area of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Five Cruise Ship Passengers were murdered in the terrorist attack . We as passengers, crew and cruise lines must be prepared and vigilant.

Cruise Passengers Left Die in Nassau Bahamas

While browsing videos for Nassau, Bahamas today, one particular video caught my eye. The video was titled “Cabbage beach Nassau Bahamas unsafe. I needed to know more and the 15 minute video outlines a day in port for two cruise ship passengers who were “left to die”. So, naturally, it came under investigation by Cruise Bruise Investigates. This is what the investigation of the video turned up.

Debra and Richard Bontempt from Doyleston, Ohio took a Carnival Cruise Lines’  Carnival Elation Bahamas cruise from Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, September 10, 2016. The cruise ship called at Nassau, Bahamas on September 12, then at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas the next day.

The couple disembark the cruise ship in Nassau, dine, go to shop at the Straw Market to buy things for their four kids and want to put their feet in the sand. They change into their swimsuits.

A tropical disturbance had come off the coast of Africa, so there was the threat of poor weather and it had begun to rain. Tropical Storm Julia was forming that day in the Bahamas, but it was only a disturbance at that time. The next day, Tropical Storm Julia was named, while it was off the Florida coast.

The couple asked where there was a beach and are told about Cabbage Beach, a beautiful beach with postcard perfect, pink sands, near million dollar homes. They take a taxi to the beach.

They are pitched by locals repeatedly for excursions and goods they sell. She claims one of the men were more or less stalking them to pitch their goods.

Debra says the crime rate is not as reported, it is very dangerous there. She outlines the reasons she calls the port “unsafe” in her video.

She says they got talked into renting a jet ski for an hour to get away from the men “stalking them”. From there, things went wrong.

The jet ski broke down and they were stranded after the current pushes them out to the coral reef a mile or two from shore. She gets cut on her legs and feet in “shark infested waters”.

A second cruise ship from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has departed the port, leaving just Carnival Elation. They begin to think they are going to miss the cruise ship departure. (you can track  Carnival Elation with our live cruise ship tracker)

The couple attempt to swim back to shore. With the tide coming in, the jet ski getting ripped apart on the reef, they are in danger of not getting back and she is endanger of drowning, as they fight the tide. They lose sight of each other, choking on the sea water washing over them. She is tired and having a hard time getting to shore. She says they were “left to die”. Ultimately, a fishing boat rescues them and takes them back to shore and the cruise ship.

She faults the town for not having more security in the port and on the beach which could have prevented them from being so desperate to get away from the men pitching their goods and services, they took a jet ski to get away from them. Bontempt tells her story in the video below, “to warn others”.  Listen to her story and you decide.

USCG Says Cruise Ship Captain Fell Asleep Before Crash

On Thursday, August 28, 2016 around 0230 hours,  Entertainment Cruises’ Spirit of Baltimore was involved in a collision in at Henderson Wharf Marina Fells Point Maryland. The cruise ship had taken more than 400 passengers on a Saturday Spirit After Dark Moonlight Cruise along the Patapsco River.

There were 412 passengers and 35 employees aboard at the time of the collision. Two passenger were reportedly injured enough to be taken to a local hospital.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has completed their investigation and determined the cause of the accident was due to the captain falling asleep at the helm. Court documents say he had worked three days in a row “on his own boat”, long hours and he was known to get sleepy when working overnight.  He was suspended after the incident then terminated. 

A lawsuit was filed on December 29, 2016 requesting a jury trial,  with 30 passengers party to the complaint. One couple, Maurice and Tonya Franklin are demanding one million dollars in damages in Maryland United States District Court case. Other claimants are asking for $5,000, $30,000, $50,000 or $75,000.

It is interesting to note, the lawsuit complaint says that at the time of the incident, crew only received injury reports from six passengers, with two of those requesting medical treatment.  The lawsuit further says, the cruise ship was travelling at 3 knots per hour (3.445 mph)at the time of the accident.

After the USCG published the cause of the accident and the original litigants published the required court notice in the Baltimore Sun newspaper and the complainants flooded in to add their names to the cases.

Ellen L. Hollander United States District Judge has ruled the total value of the complaint for all injuries can total no more than the value of the cruise ship, which is $1,850,000, according to Exhibit A, attached to the complaint.

While there are numerous lawyers involved in the case, Sumayyah Abdul-Hamid, Latisha Charise Morris and Nakenya Laruth Thomas are all represented by the same attorney; Devon Hogue and George Vaughn share one attorney; Antonio Bolar, Latanya Y. Dawson, Gregory A. Jones and Patrice Rooks all share one attorney are all three are listed as both defendants and claimants.

Cruise Ship Passenger Fight Security Inside Pool and Hot Tub

While adding videos to our Youtube playlists, we noticed an odd video surfaced on Youtube one month ago.

It appears a group of passengers are arguing, appearing to be close to an out and out brawl. One passenger aboard an unidentified cruise ship splashes three security officers with hot tub water, soaking them.  The passenger jumps into the pool, evading security.

As the scene progresses, they all end up back on the hot tub deck, with five security officers trying to detain the passenger. One security officer has his handcuffs out and ready to slap them on the passenger. It ends up with one security officer drug into the hot tub, completely drenched.  The man in white shirt in the hot tub is one of the five security officers.

Lawsuit Anthem of the Seas Hurricane Hermine Injuries

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines’ Anthem of the Sea embarked from Bayonne, New Jersey on February 6, 2016 with 4,500 passengers and 1,600 crew aboard, for a seven-day cruise to Florida and the Caribbean.

At the time there were National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Hurricane Center warnings issued for Hurricane Hermine in the Atlantic ocean. We followed this hurricane live in real time, as we do all tropical storms and hurricanes on our Cruise Ship Weather website.

One passenger posted an incredible video on Youtube from his third deck cabin, showing it being plunged into repeated darkness as the waves rise, covering his cabin window. (see video at the bottom of this post) “Anthem Of The Seas Vs huge waves and 120 mph winds. Viewed from my room on the third floor.”

Cruise passenger Frank Deluca from New Jersey filed a lawsuit on February 25, 2017. The lawsuit seeks class action status and alleges in the  complaint, which we downloaded from the court website, the following:

  • “This Class Action lawsuit deals with Defendant RCCL’s knowing and intentional decision to sail the Anthem of the Seas, carrying more than 4,000 paying passengers, directly into the path of a Hurricane. More than 4,000 passengers were subjected to hours of sheer terror as the gigantic cruise ship was battered by hurricane force winds and more than 30 foot waves. This terror was amplified by the recent El Faro tragedy, wherein a cargo ship knowingly sailed into a hurricane and 33 crew members all perished. Just months after one of the worst maritime tragedies in recent history, Defendant RCCL’s knowing, intentional and reckless conduct subjects RCCL to the imposition of punitive damages.
  • Remarkably, the two prior sailings of the Anthem of the Seas were delayed by as much as a day, due to bad weather. Nonetheless, prior to setting sail on Saturday February 6, 2016, there were numerous forecasts which predicted the storm which the Anthem of the Seas encountered.At approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Ocean Prediction Center first headlined the possibility of storm forced winds for Sunday, February 7, along the eastern coast near Cape Hatteras, NC. The NOAA indicated that winds would increase from 35-50 knot during the day to 40-55 knots Sunday night. The NOAA also forecasted seas to increase from 12-20 feet during the day to 15-28 feet Sunday night.
  • At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016, the NOAA issued a storm warning for Sunday, February 7, with winds of 30-55 knots during the day, increasing to 40-55 knots Sunday night. The NOAA also forecasted seas at 11-18 feet during the day and seas at 18-25 feet during the night.
  • The subject vessel left for its voyage at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday February 6, 2016.Concurrent with embarkation, at approximately 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016, NOAA upgraded the storm warning to a Hurricane Force Wind Warning. The NOAA was forecasting winds of 65 knots and 30 foot seas for Sunday, February 7.
  • RCCL knew or should have known of these hurricane force wind warnings, but none the less, the Anthem of the Seas left the Cape Liberty Port in Bayonne, New Jersey, on February 6, 2016, intending to sail to the Bahamas, carrying more than 4,000 paying passengers.
  • As the vessel was leaving Port, Captain Claus Andersen informed the passengers that there was a weather system building along the east coast and he intended to outrun the growing storm.In other words, RCCL was knowingly sailing directly towards a quickly intensifying hurricane.
  • As predicted, by 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2016, the hurricane-force winds and rough seas were battering the vessel so severely that Captain ordered all passengers to be confined in their staterooms until further notice.
  • While confined to their staterooms for approximately twelve hours, passengers were holding onto their beds and/or whatever they could find in order to keep from falling due to the severe crashing of waves and listing of the vessel. Furniture was overturned and tossed through out the vessel; broken glass littered all levels of the vessel; a portion of the ceiling collapsed; elevators became inoperable; waves crashed through open and/or shattered balcony doors; and water rushed in through numerous other areas of the vessel.
  • Waves were crashing over the top of the lifeboats tethered along the side of the Anthem of the Seas as the ship listed heavily to either side. At times the vessel listed (tilted) as far as 45 degrees and the passengers were violently thrown across their cabins.
  • Passengers scrambled to search for life jackets or flotation devices but were unable to do so. There were numerous families with small children aboard the vessel and parents did their best to protect themselves and their young children who were crying uncontrollably and screaming in sheer terror. These are examples of the extensive damage done to the vessel in the storm:

On Monday, February 8, 2016, RCCL decided to turn the Anthem of the Seas around and head back to New Jersey.”

A medevac took place 80km southeast of Wellington, New Zealand aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Legend of the Seas. A woman crew member, 20, from India suffered a lower back fracture and was airlifted on Wednesday, January 25, 3017.

On August 22, 2016, Dzung Tran from Oregon was sailing aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Splendor, when he allegedly tripped and fell on “loose border” trim of the miniature golf course. Tran says he was injured and his arm ripped wide open.

Mr. Tran says he was impaled by a golf club which tore a major artery in his upper arm. Tran claims the golf course was poorly maintained and not built to code.

Cruise Bruise: Royal Caribbean sued after excursion bus driver and #cruise ship passengers become victim of truck driver passing car in curve on Jamaican road.

Eight of the passengers have filed a lawsuit a year later, it’s interesting to note that the family of Crystal Glewwe, including husband Rick Glewwe who is a Minnesota Substance Church Pastor, is not a party to this or any other lawsuit related to this incident.

However, Rick Glewwe’s daughter Kayden Glewwe who was on the excursion bus as well, had serious injuries which resulted in surgery after the accident for a broken clavicle.

U.S. District Court Judge finds James Hausman “not credible” after former employee alerts #cruise line Holland America Line to evidence tampering and lies in the walked into door head injury case.

Court documents outline why the jury verdict was over-turned by U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Jacobs Rothstein.

In her decision, Judge Rothstein agreed with Holland America Line’s collection of facts which point to Hausman tampering with evidence, destroying evidence, tampering with potential witnesses including his own mother, lied and deliberately mislead the court and the jury to the extent of his injuries.

Cruise Bruise the Book Untold Stories

Ten years ago today, Cruise Bruise was launched and much has happened, much more than you read on the website. In celebration of the Cruise Bruise Ten Year Anniversary, the untold story is being written in a new book.

Ten years ago today, Cruise Bruise was launched with less than two dozen cases. At the time, I thought it was a lot. Then, the investigations began and cases started piling up on my desk. People began bringing my attention to other cases, current and past. Over the years, there was a never ending stream of people who called themselves “cruise victims”. I admit, with my own history of being a victim, it was easy to almost always take their story at face value. Then, do a basic investigation in order to substantiate their claim. Really deep investigations into cases didn’t come until years later and were certainly an eye-opener.

Associations were created with nothing more than trust. Over the years, that trust was betrayed, time and time again, with the truth about people, their motives and secret agendas rising to the surface. The truth is this. The media and online publications such as mine, are targets for greedy people who seek to use a story for financial gain. These people, who go to any length to get media attention, we call media whores. They sell their souls for a few moments, few days or few months of fame, mostly seeking their fortune at other’s expense. So, I began walking away from previous bonds, becoming reliant on my own ability to research facts, before deciding if a case would be featured on Cruise Bruise. This is a video promotion from our early days.

Fake Doctor Working On Cruise Ship Arrested

When a man is  arrested for posing as a doctor after getting hired as the cruise ship physician, we learn how scammers infiltrate our world, in every aspect of our lives.

Whether it’s a scam artist or just a person aspiring to a selected field of greatness, the outcome is the same. People are duped into thinking they are interacting with a person of quality, a person they pay for quality and they are short changed. The bottom line is this. If someone is intent on defrauding you or your business, it will happen, no matter how much due diligence you exercise. It happens every day, in every country around the world.

I bring as an example, the case of Andres Parras, 57, a resident of North Miami, who had been practicing medicine without a valid license at Finlay Medical Center in Hollywood, Florida and was working aboard a cruise ship as the ship’s doctor. Parras submitted a Florida medical license when he applied for a position as the ship`s doctor. The number on the medical license in Parras` personnel folder at AIDA Cruises belonged to a different doctor, according to information from the state Department of Professional Regulation.

Cruise Ship Passengers Dead Tortola Bus Crash

Cruise Bruise: Eighteen # cruise ship passengers injured, two dead in fatal British Virgin Islands bus crash. When names are known, those cases will be moved to the CruiseShipDeaths.com website.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) reported on Sunday, December 6, 2015 around 1100 hours, a privately owned tour-bus full of Celebrity Cruises Summit cruise ship passengers crashed at Cane Garden Bay in British Virgin Islands of Tortola, injuring 20 people aboard. Two female passengers from the United States died from their injuries.

We began to developing a new website design, which is friendly to all screen resolutions, including tablets and mobile phones.

As the websites are converted, the color change signifies the new mobile-friendly template. The blue and green template is the 2012-2014 version. The blue only template is the version friendly for all devices.

In truth, if you remove each case where:

  • an employee injured another person or ship full of people, violating their terms of contract,
  • children who were injured during a lack of parental supervision,
  • people who became ill during an event which was unrelated to ship services,
  • had pre-existing conditions which worsened during a cruise resulting in death,
  • people who were victims of a crime committed by someone they were in a relationship with,
  • people who failed to exercise due diligence and caution while in dangerous areas on the ship,
  • people who didn’t adhere to internationally accepted personal safety standards, whether incidents involved alcohol or not, what remains wouldn’t be enough to launch a single cruise industry awareness website.

Information and truth are powerful weapons, Cruise Bruise will continue to seek the truth and report it using the Freedom Of Information Act. Our new agenda is to follow truth, no matter where it leads us. Bernardo Elbaz identified as #cruise ship passenger #overboard in Caribbean. Bernardo Garcia Teixeira​ Elbaz is a missing cruise ship passenger aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines’ Oasis of the Seas on November 6, 2015.

Elbaz  intentionally jumped from the 7th deck to a lifeboat on the 6th, around 0345 hours on Friday, November 6, 2015.

The lifeboat was wet from prior rain. He slipped off the lifeboat after clinging to it for a short time, before dropping into the sea.

Seabourn Spirit Cruise Ship Pirate Attack 10 Years Ago

Cruise Bruise Investigates:  Hero Michael Groves saves Seabourn Spirit cruise ship passengers in the most violent pirate attack on a  #cruise ship ten years ago today. Seabourn Spirit attacked with Ak47s and rocket-propelled grenades.

Seabourn Spirit was nearly boarded by pirates and no doubt a hostage situation would have played out just as it did with the Le Ponant, only with passengers involved if not for the bravery of Michael Groves. Michael Groves was working as a security officer aboard Seabourn Spirit.

For his heroic efforts, Groves received the Queen’s Gallantry Medal from the Queen herself at Buckingham Palace on May 16, 2007. Men are not labeled “heroes” and given medals for bravery by the Queen for ‘minor events’. That was the first clue lots of information was missing about this incident, information Queen Elizabeth II had at hand.

Mr Groves, a 42-year-old crew member who was a former UK policeman, dodged the pirate’s small arms fire and rocket-launched grenades, and used a fire hose to try to force the pirates away from the cruise ship. Two grenades were fired into the ship, but Mr Groves fought off the pirates and prevented them from boarding. When he was honored by the Queen for his bravery, Mr Groves said: “As soon as I went on the deck I came under automatic fire. A rocket grenade blew me off my feet.”

Family Gets Cruise Ship Death Free Legal Aid

#Cruise ship crew member’s  body indicates foul play, free seamen legal aid gets $65,000 death settlement for family, with no legal fees.

Lemuel Lizada from Barangay Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines, had been a cruise ship crew member aboard Princess Cruises Star Princess for about a month when he died on June 14, 2014, shortly after speaking with family, who he called daily.

Lemuel Lizada got his job at Princess Cruises through Magsaysay Maritime Corp, who called the family on June 15, 2014, to tell them their son had died aboard the Star Princess. The cause of death was stated as “cardiopulmonary disease.”

July 28, 2014, Lemuel Lizada’s body arrived back in the Philippines and the family ordered an autopsy. The autopsy report stated that Lemuel had died from “traumatic injuries.” The family believes Lemuel Lizada was murdered. With no witnesses, the family was getting nowhere. They repeatedly requested a death certificate and were ignored.

Christina Ricci Carnival Victory Bahamas Death

Update:  Christina Ricci, 24, fell, hit her head during a fall aboard Carnival Victory on the first night of a Bahamas #cruise.

She died while in a coma and there have been touching online memorial tributes by boyfriend Scott Flanders.

On October 18, 2015, a memorial was held, Remembering Christina (video) Sun 4:30 PM at Turtletown Pond Concord, NH. The event description says, “The crew from Capital City Tattoo, Christina’s shop family, invite you to come and remember her and help her paint the heavens. Bring a flower, balloon, candles and your memories. A beautiful soul taken much to young.” The same day, Scott Flanders posted online, ” I will miss you more then words will ever say.”

December 14, 2015, Flanders posted a photo online of a tattoo on his arm in honor of Ricci that says, “so it goes”. He showed two bracelets one that says, “Christina Strong” and the other “so it goes”. People began asking online how they could get the bracelets too and some wanted to get the tattoo.

Flanders responded, “Ok people. I got 100 of these on the first order. I did this out of the kindness of my heart. I don’t want money. I made them because not everyone who knew this great woman wants the tattoo. If you want one of these I will ask you to stop by the shop and fill out the paperwork for the tattoo. You don’t have to get the tattoo. But I even want people to talk about how the whole situation has made a impact on your life. I will continue to support her till my life has ended. Thank you.”

Passenger Ship Fire 544 Aboard

MV Wonderful Star passenger ship caught fire while docked early this morning with 544 people aboard, 2 of 59 crew members injured. The ship was located in Ormoc, located on Leyte Island in the Philippines.

Two crew members of the 59 crew members working aboard MV Wonderful Star were reportedly injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Video footage captured by witnesses to the fire show several people jumping overboard into the sea as they tried to escape the fire.

Cruise Ship Injury Ends Legendary Musician’s Career

Lawsuit filed by Gyula Bruno Fekete brother blames  Uniworld River Cruises for legendary saxophonist’s 2014 SS Antoinette delayed head injury/coma treatment by Boppard, German hospital.

On June 3, 2014 legendary saxophonist from Hungary Gyula Bruno (Maxi) Fekete, 62, had been booked to perform aboard Uniworld River Cruises SS Antoinette for a seven-day cruise sailing on the Rhine River in Boppard, Germany. It was Day 5 of the cruise for the professional musician who had been performing with his girlfriend-life partner and fellow musician Erika Sarkozi.

What happened on June 3, 2014, depends on who is telling the story. Either Fekete had a stroke, fell, hitting his head or he tripped over a bag on the stair, fell, hit his head causing a stroke, or he fell over the bag, hitting his head and suffered a head injury. No matter who tells the story, they all blame the captain of the SS Antoinette for not responding quickly to Erika Sarkozi’s plea to call an ambulance to rush Gyula Fekete from the SS Antoinette to the hospital for treatment. Due to the small size of SS Antoinette and close proximity to hospitals all along the voyage, the cruise ship does not have an infirmary.
