Steamship Authority Fast Ferry Iyanough Jetty Crash Injures Passengers

Hyannis Port, Massachusetts

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is reporting today that,  the Steamship Authority’s fast ferry Iyanough,  crashed into a Hyannis Port, Massachusetts jetty last night around 9:30 pm with 48 passengers aboard.

The USCG is performing a rescue evacuation operation for  8 passengers, six crew members, and three food service workers injured aboard during the Nantucket to Hyannis  route,  late night schedule.

According to Jeannot Smith, deputy commander for the Coast Guard’s Southeastern New England sector weather was a factor in the crash.

High winds, rough seas, and slippery rocks were impeding the effort to evacuate the injured. Six person were injured and three of those are in serious condition.
