Explorer Of The Seas Disco 424k Cocaine Discovered

On this day in cruise history: Seven years ago today, Adrian Morris, 28, from Golden Grove, Saint Ann, was arrested on June 6, 2010, after video footage aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) cruise ship Explorer Of The Seas connected him to a bag found in the disco aboard the cruise ship.

We repost this case to bring awareness to passengers and crew, who increasingly are targets for drug cartel recruitment. The cartels recruit others, who are eager for ‘easy’ money,  to smuggle drugs via cruise ships between Caribbean cruise ports,  and to other cruise ports outside the Caribbean.

The bag contained an 8.5 pound bag of cocaine, which had an estimated street value in Bermuda of $424,500 to  $735,375. The cocaine tested to be  47.5 per cent pure cocaine.

This broke open the case of an Explorer Of The Seas drug smuggling ring, one that also involved passengers aboard the ship on numerous occasions, smuggling cocaine into Bermuda from St. Maarten. Passengers were said to bring the cocaine onto Explorer Of The Seas from St. Maarten.  Read more
