Cruise Ship Westerdam Fire

Holland America Line’s Westerdam had a fire on June 28, 2014 while off the coast of Seattle.

The Westerdam had just started the 7-day Alaska cruise with 2,086 passengers and 798 crew members aboard. The cruise ship was out to sea for about an hour when the fire occurred.

No one was injured by the boiler room fire on MS Westerdam Saturday night and the cruise ship safely returned to the port in Seattle, officials said.

Holland America said, “A small fire in one of the boiler rooms” that occurred after the cruise ship set sail was quickly extinguished.
